Film 08 3

Week of 15th September

We visited the locations where we plan to shoot the film.
We began filming shots and experimenting with camera angles to find shots for the final shoot, however we did not have our actor so used a stand in actor.
We experienced various problems, for example we could not get the room smokey enough for the opening sequence. We will probably use a fan to create the smokey atmosphere that we want during the final filming.

For the second sequence at Pacific Place we experienced various lighting problems, which would obviously effect cinematography as it is vital to see what is being filmed. To solve this problem we will bring lighting equipment, possibly the large lights available at school, to the shoot with us.

Thoughts: The opening of the music video for 'One' by Metallica, when the shadows of the fan are used as wipe cuts of sort.
The scene in Infernal Affairs when Andy Lau and Tony Leung meet on the rooftop in Hong Kong, this is how i would picture the rooftop meeting scene at Pacific Place as they use Hong Kong brilliantly as a backdrop.
I really liked the shots of the tap in USA's short film entry to the 9/11 short film collection, the imagery was very thought provoking and would like to use this sort of extreme close up in my film.

Film 08 2

We have decided upon another location, mainly for the opening of the film. It is an apartment that you can rent for a day located in Causeway Bay, it will give us freedom and time to get a good shoot.

We have storyboarded the opening sequence of our film, involving filming through the arms of a fan and using lots of camera pans and close ups. It will be filmed in the rented room which will be designed to look like the room of the main character, a psychopath. Due to him being a psychopath his room will have to resemble his character so we will attempt to make it look unclean and have a weird look to it.
